This all started when we began bringing performers to our home for intimate musical encounters where friends and neighbors could experience the music “up close and personal” — with a chance to meet the artists, enjoy homemade snacks, and relax.
One thing led to another, and we hosted over 20 concerts at our house from 1997 to 2005. At that time, Mission Coffee Roasting Company, in the lovely historic Mission San Jose district of Fremont, was catering our charity event for the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation. They asked us to help organize a music series at their coffeehouse as part of that. So we started doing our "house concerts" at Mission Coffee in January of 2006 at the rate of one per month adds another 140 shows to our list. We also have our fundraising arm, Musical Charities — and we have quite a program!
We hope you will join us and enjoy the musical talents of this fine group of artists, as much as we do!
We preview every performer we invite to make sure that they are fun, as well as sound good when they play live. We enjoy traveling around the state to various events and conferences, to seek out the best entertainment, sometimes discovering relatively hidden talent, just waiting to be recognized for their skills.
We have booked touring musicians/bands that have played on the David Letterman show, the Hollywood Bowl, the Monterey Jazz festival, and the Philadelphia folk festival. One of our performers played the scene in “Dueling Banjos” in the movie, one has performed with Yo Yo Ma, others played on national PBS. Some have toured Europe and Great Britain, others have played Nashville and Radio City Music Hall. Where else could you hear a real 7-piece Romanian Gypsy band? We like a lot of different types of music, and we bring as much as we can to the local area.
